Hello Kit,
iGetter v2.7.5 works on Snow Leopard with the exception of its integration with Safari in 64 mode. However, iGetter integration works with Safari in 32 bit mode ("Get Info" on the Safari icon -> "Open in 32-bit mode" checkbox). iGetter integration should work with Firefox without any problems.

If you don't know how to run Safari in 32-bit mode look the picture on this page:

Please, let us know if you find a problem with iGetter related to Snow Leopard beside the Safari integration in 64-bit mode. This may help us fix it in the forthcoming release.

Hello Alfred,
The chance that this problem is related to Snow Leopard is very small. First you need to look at the iGetter Segments tab panel for the error causing that state. Please read these threads for possible solutions:

I must say I am pretty disappointed in iGetter's lack of updates to gain compatibility with the latest Safari 64-bit even though Snow Leopard has been out long enough for an iGetter update to come out. I am a long time user of iGetter and would like to see the 64-bit version. I do not want to switch to a different download application just because this company doesn't want to provide any updates and I don't want to be held up just for this one application.

Unfortunately, Apple have dropped the contextual menu plugin support in 64-bit applications including Safari and even Finder. Please, write to Apple if you want it back: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html.

So this requires a bit more work to overcome the limitation and add the contextual menu commands "Download (all/selection) with iGetter" back to Safari.

Lots of other shareware apps have added contextual menu support back to Snow Leopard. I'm sure that many iGetter users join me in wishing that the iGetter team gets its act together before iGetter becomes irrelevant.

Has it been considered to replace these functions with Services, a la Automator? It should be doable, and is certainly simpler than getting around what Apple has done.

Indeed this is what Apple wants, but Services work only with the selected text not links. You may see Majenfa post here for more info: http://www.igetter.net/forums/showthread.php3?threadid=1161

We already made iGetter integration with Safari x64 and now fix some other issues. So the new version should appear soon.

I've had this issue for over a year and it's still there (with a different laptop model and a different OS now). iGetter freezes the system, together with Safari. I have the newest updates of both: iGetter and the OS (SL). I've emailed about the issue & got a reply from you guys with a temporary fix, which I am successfully applying. However, the problem is still there... Here was the reply (sent in June 2008):

Dear Andrei xxx,

Thank you for your bug report. We will try to reproduce and eventually fix the problem.

In the meantime, you can try to decrease the "Default number of segments" to 5 and increase the "Minimal segment size" to 9999 KB at iGetter preferences, Acceleration panel. It would be fine if you set to 3 the "Max simultaneous downloads" value (iGetter preferences, General panel).
