This error shows up after about 5 minutes of downloading, things are moving forward then, suddenly, this error starts showing up in some of the segments, causing them not to finish. Then, anything new that starts gets the same error. Occasionally a segment will start, but more often than not this error just gets repeated over and over.

According to http://voa.his.com/rmsII_docs/Ref_D.error_codes.html this error means "268435558 Unexpectedly disconnected from the Server" however, as far as I know this is not the normal "unexpectedly disconnected" error and comes from the OS's network drivers (or stack, or whatever it's called). I've searched google and found no help diagnosing this problem.

The error doesn't seem to appear when I try to access the same site using a different client (firefox).

StarkRG,
The error "268435558 - Unexpectedly disconnected from the Server" means that either the server, your ISP or some proxy has disconnected iGetter for some reason (most probably exceeded bandwidth or exceeded number of allowed connections).

What you can try:
1. Add that server (i.e "http://.server.com/") in iGetter preferences, Site Manager panel limiting connections to 1.

2. Open iGetter preferences, Acceleration panel and set the "Minimal segment size" value to 9999 KB and "Default number of segments" to 2.

3. If the problem appears only with FTP sites switch on "Use passive FTP mode (PASV)" option at Mac OS X System Preferences, Network, Proxies tab panel (see http://www.igetter.net/forums/showthread.php3?threadid=278).
