I have a 20mb pipe at my house and igetter uses all 20mb all the time. I have adjusted the speed limit down and also adjusted the connection type, to throttle it down, but still using all 20mb.
ideas?

jeff,
Did you adjust the speed limit slider somewhere below 2.5 MB/s (2.5 MBps is equal to 20 Mbps, because 1 Byte = 8 bits)?
Thanks,

Same problem
Hi,
I also am facing the same problem. I have a 10mbps line, and I've set the speed limit to 890kbps, but igetter still uses the full bandwidth speed and doesn't throttle down the speed.
Can anyone tell me why this is so, and how do I get the speed limit to work?
Thanks!

I too have this problem.
I set the max speed limit to 75 KB/s with the slider and it still just runs at like 1MB/s.
Which in turn means I download too much too quickly and hit my ISP download limit and my overall speed gets cut by 75%!
Please help :)

You need to activate the "Speed Limit" function through menu "Downloads" -> "Obey Speed Limit" or Cmd + L keys.

When you turn on "Obey Speed Limit" option (Cmd+L), you should see the speed limit label/slider at the lower right corner of iGetter window as shown here:
