Hello,

I would like to know how can I get the contextual menu in Safari 6.0 on Mountain Lion? I tried to enable it in the preference menu of iGetter 2.9, and it doesn't work.

Hello Fang,
When iGetter is started it installs automatically its browser components. So first, make sure that you have installed only one copy of iGetter v2.9 and remove all older versions.

To add iGetter CM commands to Safari you need to:
1. Turn ON "Add Contextual menu support for Internet browsers" at iGetter preferences, Integration panel.
2. Then start Safari and check its preferences -> Extensions panel for the iGetter extension v2.9. It must be listed and enabled.
3. Select Safari's menu Help -> "Installed Plugins" command. On the opened page you have to see "iGetterScriptablePlugin" listed.

You say
2. Then start Safari and check its preferences -> Extensions panel for the iGetter extension v2.9. It must be listed and enabled.
BUT it is not listed, and is not found on the safari extensions page.
Now what?

At Safari preferences, Extensions panel, there is a main switch to turn all extensions on or off. What is the state of your switch? Also, do you have other extensions enabled, such as ClickToPlugin? If so you need to enable iGetter plugins as explained here: http://www.igetter.net/forums/showthread.php3?threadid=1384.

Thanks,

Me too, there is no extension listed in Safari preferences, and the switch is set to ON. I haven't installed any extensions for Safari. I installed iGetter 2.9 after deleted the old version.

Since this is the first report of such problem which we can't reproduce with Safari 6.0 on Mountain Lion, most probably there is a problem with your iGetter installation (i.e. iGetter doesn't have sufficient rights to write in your user folder, you've renamed/moved iGetter folder or app, etc.) Is there any error message about this problem in your Console app?

Alternatively, you can try to install iGetter extension from here:
http://igetter.net/iGetterExtension.safariextz.

Updated on 08/24/2014 10:50: Removed space from the extension link to avoid file renaming after downloading.

I haven't renamed/moved iGetter folder or app, it's always in the Applications folder.

I have tried to install iGetter extension from http://igetter.net/iGetter%20Extension.safariextz, but it says that there is an error when trying to install the extension.

Any other solutions? Thanks.

If the error is in English, please, make a screenshot of the alert box and send it to . Otherwise we will need the English translation of the error.

Also, try to install some extension from here: http://extensions.apple.com/. Do you get the same error?

Yes same here, I have simply dragged app to Applications, it opens fine.

Furthermore not giving iGetter any thought this morning, I downloaded something from somewhere else and iGetter jumped in and did it for me. So something works.

I just cannot use it to get my mp3 music, and they were the guys who recommended iGetter. Weird.

Here are the exact steps to install iGetter extension for Safari:
1. Quit Safari.
2. Turn ON "Add Contextual menu support for Internet browsers" at iGetter preferences, Integration panel.
3. Start Safari and check its preferences -> Extensions panel for the iGetter extension.

IF iGetter extension is NOT listed there:
1. Click on the following link in Safari:
http://igetter.net/iGetterExtension.safariextz

2. It will open a new page. Now, open Safari downloads window as shown on the screenshot. Then double click on the downloaded extension file and when prompted click on the "Install" button:

3. iGetter extension should be listed in Safari preferences, Extensions panel as shown here:

4. For the iGetter CM commands to appear, "iGetterScriptablePlugin" should also be listed at Safari's menu Help -> "Installed Plugins" page:

5. The result is working iGetter CM commands in Safari:

@Doug
If you want to download mp3 files with iGetter, you need to add "mp3" to file types that iGetter intercepts automatically. You can do this at iGetter preferences, Integration panel. You will find the following set by default: "dmg,bin,hqx,sit,sitx,zip,gz,tgz,bz2,rar". Just add mp3 at the end separated with a comma.

Movie downloads may go in conflict with the QuickTime plugin, so we don't recommend adding movie or audio extensions at iGetter preferences, Integration panel.
