I'm new to iGetter and I'm having trouble logging into my URL site through Site Explorer.

I have got to the stage where I have entered my URL for Site Explorer with my User Name & Password and when I hit the "GO" button it shows me the files in the bottom preview pane but I can't see anything in the live pane on the upper right - I just see the path to my URL with a spinning arrow in the little folder then a red "X" appears and the "Enter URL" box pops up again.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks in advance

The red "X" indicates an error and the "Enter URL" dialog that pops up indicates that this is an authentication error. There may be several reasons for the reported behavior:
1. The HTTP site requires Digest authentication and iGetter supports only Basic authentication.
2. Site applies some restriction to download managers. In this case you can try to change you user-agent at iGetter preferences, Advanced panel.

You can try to browse that site in Safari, Firefox or Chrome and then use contextual menu commands "Download (all/selection) with iGetter" in your browser.

Thanks for your reply.

You mention HTTP but my seedbox uses HTTPS. Is this an issue?

iGetter supports HTTPS. In your case, Site Explorer receives an authentication error, which means that it successfully connects to that site using HTTPS.

Some sites provide FTPS in addition to HTTPS. Look for some info about FTP on your seedbox site.

For example to use you can follow this:

1. Add the following site to iGetter preferences, Site Manager:

Site: ftps://
User: <your user info>
Limit connections to: 8

2. In Site Explorer enter the following URL (replace xxxx with your user):

URL: ftps://
FTP (Explicit): On
Login: (don't enter login info, it will get user info from Site Manger's entry)

3. Browse the site and add some download to queue. It should work properly.

We found about FTPS support here:
