I was trying to turn on the Virus Scan feature of iGetter 1.8 when I discovered that it wouldn't let me select my virus scanner software, Virex7. I don't know the reason for this, maybe iGetter can't handle OS X Application bundles. Anyway, I've written a simple applescript wrapper around Virex7 that allows you to use Virex7 as the post-download virus scanner in iGetter.

Cut and paste the following into a new script in Script Editor and save it as an application called "virexwrapper".

on open (theObjects)
tell application "Virex7"
open theObjects
end tell
end open

then open your iGetter preferences and go the the Advanced panel, enable virus scanning and select "virexwrapper" as your virus scanner.

You can testing it by trying to download a file.

Can this script be modified to tell Virex to quit at the end of the scan?

The following script will quit Virex7 after scanning the files

on open (theObjects)
tell application "Virex7"
open theObjects
quit
end tell
end open

last script doesn't work

The last script I posted I didn't actually test. It justs quits Virex7 without scanning the files. Stick with the original one I wrote. If anyone wants to improve on it let me know.

regards

matthew
