Hi,

Does anyone know of any software for Mac OS X that allows you to resume downloading a binary from a newsgroup (not web based newsgroups) if you're cut off from the internet in mid download? -- to be able to resume downloading from where you had got up to before you were cut off?

iGetter doesn't handle the newsgroup protocol. Thoth does not allow resuming even though some people think it does.

There's an old post here <http://www.igetter.net//forums/showthread.php3?threadid=111> that talks about this. Just to reiterate: Thoth does not allow this.

Would be fantastic if anyone could point me towards anything that'll do this.

John.

If you are interested in binary stuff on usenet, check

http://www.panic.com/unison/

I purchased it instantly while I use text only access. Its one of most advanced binary nntp readers available in fact.

Panic style :)

newsreader that resumes

I run pan, under X11 on 10.4.2, using fink binary. It'll resume where you left off, even mid file, and it's free.

Yes! Unison resumes!! Brilliant. So thanks again for the pointer.

Didn't try pan as I tried Unison first and it worked but good to know about its existence. Thanks.

Cheers, John.
