Guys

I have tried tunneling igetter through SSH - terminal window tunnels...

no success, it downloads a little, then says network error and throws the tunnels into dissaray - they just go dowlaod crazy but the data doesnt get to igetter.

i love igetter, and she works when you dont force her through the 127.0.0.1 proxy to the terminal tunnel....

if i can resolve this i will buy her

please help

Currently, iGetter supports HTTP, HTTPS and FTP proxies as well as Socks Firewall 4.0/5.0. This is the first request for a SSH tunneling, so we added this feature to the iGetter wish list for a future implementation.

Thanks,

You should try to setup a SOCKS 5 tunnel over SSH, and then point iGetter to the SOCKS 5 proxy, that should work fine.

To setup SOCKS 5 tunnel to a SSH server, do the following from your OSX client:

ssh -D 8000 username@ssh-server

Then point your browser / iGetter to SOCKS 5 TCP 8000 localhost.

Choose a different port if so desired.

If one is subscribed to secure-tunnel.com how does one configure iGetter 2.3 to run?

I am using OS X 10.4.5 with AlmostVPN with the configuration settings recommended by secure-tunnel.com with Socks 5 at localhost; 1080

Or is it the case it is not possible with this version?

I fogot to mention I have particular difficulties downloading from Easynews using HTTP where iGetter will not download from Easynews's proxy secure servers.

Will appreciate any suggestions.
