Hi - I need to enter a username of:

username@domain.com

to download some files from

ftp://mydomain.com/somefile

to complete URL (works in firefox) is:

ftp://username@domain.com:mypassword@domain.com/somefile

But iGetter gets confused by the extra @ and tries to download:

ftp://username@domain.com/somefile

Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks,

Dan.

Hello Dan,
iGetter accepts URLs in the form of:
ftp://username:password@domain.com/file.ext

Username or password must not include @ or colon signs. URL syntax is explained in RFC3986. In short, username followed by an at-sign ("@") that delimits it from the host, means that you have omitted the password.

A workaround is to try to enter your user info in the iGetter preferences, Site Manager panel. Then enter the URL without user info: ftp://domain.com/file.ext

Hi - I'm sure that the user names violate the RFCs, but it's not me setting the user name - it's used by some web hosting control panels for virtualdomain ftp users.

Anyway, the workaround worked as details, the strange thing is that I can now enter the username@domain type user name in iGetter without an entry in the ftp sites and it is working too.

I think that the original problem I was having may have been related to trying to download a 6Gb file from the virtual server.

Thanks for the tips and great product. Time to renew my license now I think :)
